Shared note
The 1850 Federal Census for Franklin Township, Johnson County, Indiana, lists the names of James and Elizabeth [Carr] McCaslin's children and a granddaughter who are living in their household. They are Margaret McCaslin Stewart (age 24), Mary Ann (age 22), Elizabeth (age 19), Louisa (age 18), James W (age 16), John C (age 11), Lucy E (age 10), David (age 8) and Florence C Stewart (Margaret's daughter, age 8 months). On 21 Feb 1856 in Johnson County, Indiana, Mary Ann McCaslin married Daniel A M Morgan, but I have not been able to locate Daniel, Mary Ann or any of his children by his first wife Sally in the 1860 US Federal census. In the 1870 US Federal Census for Clark, Johnson, Indiana, 42-year-old Mary A [McCaslin] Morgan is a widow with $7,000 worth of real estate and $400 worth of personal property. In her household are her daughters, 13-year-old Lou and 7-year-old Lauretta, and her 10-year-old son Carrie E [Carey] mistakenly identified as a female. Also in the household are a 23-year-old hired man, Frank Huff, and 4-year-old Hattie Carr daughter of Mary Ann's sister, Elizabeth McCaslin Carr and Elizabeth's husband Samuel. All three Morgan children have attended school in the past year. In the 1880 US Federal Census for Sugar Creek, Shelby, Indiana, 59-year-old farmer Milton Francis and his 52-year-old wife Mary A [McCaslin Morgan] Francis have in their household her children, 20-year-old Cary and 17-year-old Etta Morgan, their daughter 7-year-old Zula Francis, and their hired man, 23-year-old Kentucky-born Milton Lans. Everyone in this household can read and write except the hired man. Cary, Etta and Zula have attended school in the past year. Mary Ann [McCaslin Morgan] Francis' tombstone in Frankilin, Johnson, Indiana in Greenlawn Cemetery, Section Pine Row 2 Stone 2 records that she was born 19 Jun 1829 and died 26 Jun 1881 and that she was the daughter of James McCaslin. This is also the stone for her daughter Louella Morgan.
