Obituary from the Press Argus 1967 posted on findagrave.com by Tonia Holleman Francis M. Kimes, 92 years old, died Saturday morning, April 29 1967 in a Fort Smith rest home. He was born January 15, 1875 at Chester, Arkansas, the son of Francis Marion and Adeline (Elkins) Kimes. He was the last member of his immediate family except for several nieces and nephews. He was a retired carpenter and blacksmith. He was a lifelong resident of the Chester area. Survivors are four nephews, Louis Kimes and Wesley Kimes both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Floyd Kimes of St. Louis and Carl Kimes of Los Angeles; five nieces, Mrs. Alma Clark of Los Angeles, Mrs. Gladys Berg of Redding, California, Mrs. Opal Wann of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Mrs. Iris Dailey of Ontario, California and Mrs. Ava Davidson of Leachville, Arkansas. Funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. at Number 12 church , north of Chester, with Gilbert Pixley officiating. Burial in Westview Cemetery was directed by Ocker Funeral Home.[sic burial was in Kimes Cemetery, Crawford County, Arkansas]
