In the 1900 US Federal Census for Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, 31-year-old Switzerland-born Adolph Hauser and his 27-year-old Missouri-born wife Martha [Dotson] Hauser have been married four years. Martha has born one living child, 3-year-old Minnesota-born Edna. Adolph is a waiter who immigrated to the US in 1881 and has lived here 19 years. He is a naturalized citizen. Adolph and Martha are literate and speak English. Adolph's parents were born in Switzerland; Martha's parents were born in Germany; Edna's father was born in Switzerland and her mother in Missouri. Martha [Dotson] Hauser died 7 Jun 1904 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. The account of her death was published in the Minneapolis Journal on June 8, 1904, page 6: BURNS WERE FATAL ________________ Mrs. A. L. Hauser, who was burned at her home, 1217 Thirtieth avenue N. yes- terday morning, while heating floor wax, died at her home early last evening. Her clothes caught fire while she was taking the liquid from the stove and she ran out into the yard with her clothing blazing. When friends finally smothered the flames, it was learned that her entire body was frightfully burned. An ambulance was summoned, but she was too low to be taken to the hospital when it arrived.
