Shared note
In the 1910 US Federal Census for Jacobs, Hughes, Oklahoma, 49-year-old Iowa-born William Adelhelm and his 38-year-old Oklahoma-born wife Jinnie [sic] [Tuttle McCaslin] Adelhelm have been married nine years. This is a first marriage for him, but a second for her. Jennie has born eight children and all eight are living. The Oklahoma-born children living with them are three of theirs, 7-year-old Christen [sic], 5-year-old Charles, and 2-year-old Tina, and two of Jennie's children, 16-year-old Jesse [sic] McCaslin {daughter of John Wesley McCaslin] and 11-year Zora McCaslin [Zora Belle McRay, daughter of an unknown McRay]. Christen has attended school in the past year. William, Jennie, Jessie and Zora are literate and speak English. William owns the farm, free of mortgage, on which he is doing general farming. William's parents were born in Iowa; Jennie's father was born in Kansas and her mother in Oklahoma; Christen, Charles and Tina's father was born in Iowa and their mother in Oklahoma; Jessie and Zora's father was born in Arkansas and their mother in Oklahoma. Special inquiries regarding Indians records that William is white, Jennie is 1/2 Indian and the children are 1/4 Indian. Jennie has been married twice and is not living in polygamy. Jennie, Jessie and Zora are taxed. William and Jennie are residing on "their own lands". Jennie first received an allotment in 1879, Christan and Charles in 1905, Jessie in 1899 and Zora in 1902. They are living in a "civilized dwelling." In the 1920 US Federal Census for Brown, Seminole, Oklahoma, 54-year-old Iowa-born farmer W M Adelhelm and his 50-year-old Oklahoma-born wife Jennie [Tuttle McCaslin] Adelhelm have in their household their Oklahoma-born children, 16-year-old Chester, 14-year-old Charles, 11-year-old Tina and 8-year-old Louis [sic]. None of the children are recorded as attending school in the past year. Everyone except Lewis can read and write. William owns the farm they are living on, but with a mortgage. William's parents were born in Iowa; Jennie's father was born in Kansas and her mother in Oklahoma; the children's father was born in Iowa and their mother in Oklahoma. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Dustin, Hughes, Oklahoma, 59-year old Olkahoma-born widow Jennie [Tuttle McCaslin] Adelhelm is head of a household containing her Oklahoma-born sons, 25-year-old farmer Charlie and 19-year-old Lewis Adelhelm. Charlie has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day and has not served in the military. Jennie owns the house they are living in and they have a radio. Everyone is Indian. All of their fathers were "mixed blood" and their mothers Creek.
