These Arkansas-born children are 16-year-old farm laborer Charles I, 14-year-old farm laborer John M, 12-year-old Zillah, 10-year-old James A, 7-year-old David B, 3-year-old Lydda A and one-year-old Zenia. James is farming rented land. James, Josephine, Charles, John, and Zilliah can read, write and speak English. James can only speak English. None of the chidren have attended school in the past year.
