In the 1880 US Federal Census for Cedar Creek, Crawford, Arkansas, 64-year-old Kentucky-born Jane A Louis [sic] [Hobaugh Lewis] is keeping house for a household that consists of two of her Arkasas-born children, 30-year-old Malinda and 27-year-old James H and her 66-year-old Kentucky-born brother P C [Philip] Hobaugh. Philip has "lost a leg". Jane and Philip's father was born in Pennsylvania and their mother in North Carolina. Malina and James' parents were born in Kentucky. Living on the next two farms are Jane's daughters Henretta [sic] [Lewis] McCaslin and Manerva [Lewis] Temple and their families. The next household contains 34-year-old Arkansas-born farm laborer A. J. [Andrew Jackson] and his 33-year-old Missouri-born wife Henrietta [Lewis] McCaslin have in their household their Arkansas-born children, 11-year-old David, 9-year-old Sarah, 7-year-old Manerva, 5-year-old Malissa and one-year-old Tennessee. Beyond the McCaslins are 50-year-old Tennessee-born farmer F M [Francis M] and his Missouri-born 39-year-old wife Manerva [Lewis] Temple Francis' Arkansas-born children by his first wife Mary Rozell, 24-year-old James F, 22-year-old William A, and their Arkansas-born children, 18-year-old Mary, 13-year-old Francis. 9-year-old Charles N, 7-year-old Sarah, 5-year-old Narcissa, and one-year-old Thomas I [This is Iva Thomas, incorrectly recorded as a male]. Francis, Charles and Sarah have attended school in the past year. Francis's father was born in Georgia and his mother in Virginia; Manerva's father was born in Kentucky and her mother in Missouri; the children's father was born in Tennessee and their mother in Missouri. On 30 Jul 1894, W W Baker and Manerva E McCaslier [sic] applied for a marriage license at the County Clerk's Office in Muskogee, Muskogee, Oklahoma. In the 1900 US Federal Census for Township 11, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, 30-year-old Arkansas-born William W and his 26-year-old Arkansas-born wife Minerva [McCaslin] Baker have been married six years and have had four children, two are living. These two Indian Territory-born children are 5-year-old Poline [sic Pauline] and 4-month old Monroe. William is a farmer, farming rented land. He has had no months out of work in the past year. William and Minerva can read, write and speak English. William's parents were born in Arkansas; Minerva's father was born in Arkansas and her mother in Missouri; the children's parents were born in Arkansas. The Baker household is living next door to Minerva's parents, Andrew Jackson and Henrietta [Lewis] McCaslin. In the 1910 US Federal Census for Cauthron, Scott, Arkansas, 37-year-old Arkansas-born William W and his 37-year-old Arkansas-born wife Manerva [sic] E [McCaslin] Baker have been married sixteen years and have had nine children, six are living. These six children are 15-year-old Pauline, 10-year-old Monroe, 8-year-old Elsie J [Essie?}, all born in Oklahoma, and 5-year-old Dovie L, 4-year-old Virgil D and 2-year-old Lois, all born in Arkansas. William is doing "general farming" on land he owns, free of mortgage. Monroe is a farm hand, working the "home farm". William, Minverva, Pauline and Monroe can read, write and speak English. Pauline, Monroe, Elsie and Dovie have attended school in the past year. William's parents were born in Tennessee; Minerva's parents were born in Arkansas [sic]; the children's parents were born in Arkansas. The birthplaces of the children would indicate that the Bakers moved to Arkansas after 1902 but before 1905.
