In the 1900 US Federal Census for Angolia, Tulare, California, 50-year-old Canadian-born farmer Charles H and his 37-year-old Nebraska-born wife Lenora H [Abbott] Sherwin have beem married 23-years and have had six children, all are living. Five of these California-born children are living with them: 19-year-old farm laborer Der R [sic], 14-year-old Helen L, 11-year-old Caroline, 4-year-old Daisy L and 3-year-old Ruth M. Also in this household is 51-year-old beekeeper and lodger, Canadian-born Clark Decker. Helen and Caroline have attended school eight months of the past year. Everyone is recorded as being able to read, write and speak English except the two youngest, Daisy and Ruth. Charles is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. He immigrated to the United States in 1850, has lived here for fifty years and is a naturalized citizen. Charles' parents were born in Connecticut; Leonora's father was born in Massachusetts and her mother in Ohio; the children's father was born in Canada and their mother in Nebraska. On the same page are Charles' oldest child 22-year-old Nebraska-born George H and his 20-year-old Nebraska-born wife Clyde L who have been married two years and have had one child who is dead. In the 1910 US Federal Census for Angolia, Tulare, California, 32-year-old Nebraska-born farmer George N and his 30-year-old Nebraska-born wife Ida [maiden name unknown] Sherwin have been married for eleven years and have had six children, four are living. These California-born children are 9-year-old Charles, 6-year-old Viola, 5-year-old George and one-year 11-month old Helen. Charles, Viola and George have attended school in the past year. George is farming rented land. George's faher was born in Canada; Ida's parents were born in Iowa; the children's parents were born in Nebraska. George's father Charles H Sherman and his family should have been recorded on the same page as George's family, but were forgotten and then recorded in a supplement. ?-year-old [blot is over his age] Iowa-born [sic] farmer Charles H and his 49-year-old [sic] Nebraska-born wife Lenora H [Abbott] Sherwin have beem married 40-years [sic] and have had six children, all are living. three of these California-born children are living with them: 29-year-old farm laborer Dior Rugus, 15-year-old Daisy and 12-year-old Ruth. Dior is an artesian well-borer. Everyone can read write and speak English. Charles' father was born in Vermont [sic] and his mother in Ireland [sic]; Leonora's parents birthplace is unknown; the children's father was born in Iowa [sic] and their mother in Nebraska.
