In the 1905 Kansas State Census for Home, Nemaha, Kansas, 33-year-old Indiana-born farmer A A and his 33-year-old Kansas-born wife Mary C [Mullins] Ryan have in their household 9-year-old Indiana-born Don and 2-year-old Kansas-born Stella. A A is farming rented land. A A and Don came to Kansas from Indiana. This would indicate that Don is a child by an earlier marriage.
