The family is living at 3123 Wilmington Avenue in a rented house. Peter immigrated in 1871 [sic] and Caroline immigrated in 1885 [sic]. Both became naturalized citizens in 1898. Peter is a department store janitor. Anna is a bookbinder for a book store. Everyone else's occupation is none. Peter, Caroline [mother], Anna, Elmer and Caroline [daughter] are literate and speak English. Elmer, Caroline, Edward and Rita have attended school in the past year. Everyone's parents were born in Germany. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Brentwood Allegheny, Pennsylvania, 36-year-old Arkansas-born Walter and his 23-year-old Pennsylvania-born wife Caroline [Duppre] Elkins were married for the first time when he was 20- and she was 19-years old. This would indicate that this is Walter's second marriage but Carolin's first and that they have been married four years.They have in their household their Pennsylvania-born children, 2-year one-month old Caroline M and 8-month old Jack. The family is living in a rented house at 36 Pointview Road for which Walter pays $25 a month rent. Walter is a bookbinder for a bindery and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. He has served in the military in WWI. Walter and Caroline can read, write and speak English.
