Shared note
In the 1900 US Federal Census for Bear Creek, Boone, Arkansas, 28-year-old Arkansas-born Robert L and his 25-year-old Missouri-born wife Mary M [maiden name unknown] Parnell have been married seven years and have had five children, all are living. These Arkansas-born children are 6-year-old Audra E, 4-year-old Wesley G, 3-year-old Ruby P, 1-year-old Grant C and 2-month old Lex B. Both Robert and Mary can read, write and speak English. Robert is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. Robert's father was born in Arkansas and his mother in Missouri, Mary's parents were born in Missouri, and the children's father was born in Arkansas and their mother in Missouri. In the 1910 US Federal Census for Hulbert, Cherokee, Oklahoma, 37-year-old Arkansas-born Robert Lee and his 36-year-old Missouri-born wife Margret [sic] [maiden name unknown] Parnell have been married 16 years and have had seven children, six are living. These children are 15-year-old Audry [sic], 14-year-old farm laborer Guy [Wesley G], 13-year-old Ruby, 11-year-old farm laborer Curtis [Grant C], 8-year-old Raymond, and 5-year-old Ross. Audra, Guy, Ruby and Curtis were born in Arkansas, whereas Raymond and Ross were born in Oklahoma, indicating that the Parnells moved to Oklahoma after 1900 but before 1902. Missing from this census is Lex who may be presumed to have died. Also in this household are farm laborers; Robert's brother, 28-year-old Arkansas-born Tilford Parnell, and 38-year-old Georgia-born Elba Thoton. All the children except Ross have attended school in the past year. Everyone except Ross can speak English. Everyone except Raymond and Ross can read and write. Robert is farming rented land. Robert' and Tilford's father was born in Arkansas and their mother's birthplace is unknown [sic], Mary's father was born in Missouri and her mother in Tennessee [sic], and the children's father was born in Arkansas and their mother in Missouri. The birthplace of Elba's parents is unknown. Alice seems to have died or divorced Thomas before 1914 as Thomas and Audra Parnell applied for a marriage license on 12 Dec 1914 in Wagoner County, Oklahoma. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Blue Mound, Wagoner, Oklahoma, 32-year-old Arkansas-born Thomas H and his 25-year-old Arkansas-born wife Audry [sic] [Parnell] McCaslin have in their household his son by his first wife Alice Gooding, 7-year-old Arkansas-born Thell, and their son 2-year 1-month old Oklahoma-born Kelley [sic]. Thell has attended school in the past year. The adults can read, write and speak English. Thomas is doing "general farming" on land he owns, but with a mortgage. Thomas' father was born in Missouri and his mother in Arkansas, Audrey's father was born in Arkansas and her mother in Missouri, and the children's parents were born in Arkansas. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 35-year-old Arkansas-born widow Audrey [sic] [Parnell] McCaslin was married when she was 20-years old. She has in her household her Oklahoma-born children, 12-year-old Kelly and 3-year 10-month old Wanda. Her step-son Thell is not listed in this household as he is living with his paternal grandparents in Arkansas. The family is living in a rented house for which Audrey pays $20 a month. Kelly has attended school in the past year. Audrey and Kelly can read, write and speak English. Audrey is a laundress in a home laundry and has worked on the last regularly scheduled work day. Everyone's parents were born in Arkansas. Audra died from a heart attack on 19 Jun 1959 in Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Oklahoma and was buried in the Park Grove Cemetery, section E, Block 31, Lot 4, Space 1.
