In the 1910 US Federal Census for Saluda, Jefferson, Indiana, 64-year [sic] old Indiana-born farmer Alva and his 28-year-old Indiana-born wife Carrie [Davidson] Snodgrass have been married eleven years and have three children, all three are living. These Indiana-born children are 10-year-old John, 8-year-old Florence, and 3-year-old William H. None of the children have attended school in the past year although everyone is recorded as being able to read and write, but only Alva, Carrie and John are recorded as being able to speak English. Alva owns the land he is farming, free of mortgage. Everyone's parents are recorded as being born in Indiana. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Saluda, Jefferson, Indiana, 38-year-old Indiana-born widow Carrie [Davidson] Snodgrass is farming land she owns, free of mortgage. She has in her household her three youngest Indiana-born children, 18-year-old Florence, 13-year-old Howard [William Howard] and 8-year-old Alva L. Florence is a servant in a "private family". William and Alva have attended school in the past year. Everyone can speak English. Everyone but Alva can read and write. Everyone's parents were born in Indiana. In the 1930 US Federal Census for Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, 23-year-old Indiana-born William H Snodgrass and his 23-year-old Kentucky born wife Della G [Satterly] Snodgrass have been married about one year as they were both 22 at the time of marriage.
