In the 1900 US Federal Census for Clark, Johnson, Indiana, 70-year-old Virginia-born Robert H Tilson is farming rented land. In his household is his 30-year-old Indiana-born single daughter, Cush. Living next door is his youngest son, 28-year-old Indiana-born Pearl, Pearl's wife 32-year-old Indiana-born Laura [Williams], their one year old Indiana-born daughter May E Tilson [sic], and Robert's son and Pearl's brother, 32-year-old Indiana-born unmarried George. Pearl and Laura have been married four years and have had only one child, May. Pearl and George are also farming rented land. All the adults can read, write and speak English. Robert's parents were born in Virginia, Cush, George and Pearl's father was born in Virginia and their mother in Indiana, Laura's parents were born in Virginia, and May's parents were born in Indiana. In the 1910 US Federal Census for Franklin, Marion, Indiana, 38-year-old Indiana-born farmer Pearl and his 42-year-old Indiana-born wife Laura A [Williams] Tilson have been married for 14 years (this is a first marriage for both) and have had two children, both are living. These Indiana-born children are 11-year-old Mary E and 8-year-old Robert W, who have attended school in the past year. Pearl is doing general farming on land he owns, which has a mortgage. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Pearl's father was born in Virginia and his mother in Indiana, Laura's parents were born in Virginia and the children's parents in Indiana. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Franklin, Marion, Indiana, 47-year-old Indiana-born farmer Pearl and his 53-year-old Indiana-born wife Alice L [sic] [Williams] Tilson have in their household their Indiana-born youngest child, 18-year-old Robert W Tilson The family farm is on Bunker Hill Road going North, which Pearl owns, but with a mortgage. Pearl is still doing general farming. Everyone can read, write and speak English. Pearl's father was born in Virginia and his mother in Indiana, Laura's parents were born in Virginia and the Robert's parents in Indiana. Laura Alice Williams Tilson's tombstone in Greenwood Cemetery, Pleasant, Johnson, Indiana says "Allie Tilson, 1867-1941" and has a Lodge Emblem.
