In the 1900 US Federal Census for Waring, Ness, Kansas, 37-year-old Illinois-born farmer Orson L and his 27-year-old Indiana-born wife Cordie [Cordelia Snodgrass] Sidebottom have been married eleven years and have had four children, all are living with them. These Kansas-born children are 9-year-old Milo, 4-year-old Lida C, 2-year-old Felix O, and 3-month old George E. None of the children has attended school in the past year. Orson and Cordie can read, write and speak English. Orson is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. Orson's parents were born in Kentucky, Cordie's parents in Indiana, and the children's father was born in Illinois and their mother in Indiana. In the 1905 Kansas State Census for Waring, Ness, Kansas, 42-year-old Illinois-born farmer O L [sic Orson Lewis] and his 32-year-old wife Indiana-born Cardia [sic] [Snodgrass] Sidebottom have in their household their Kansas-born children 14-year-old Milo, 9-year-old LIda, 7-year-old Felix, and 2-year-old Loren [sic], Orson came to Kansas from Iowa and Cordie from Indiana. In the 1910 US Federal Census for Waring, Ness, Kansas, 48-year-old Illinois-born farmer Orson L and his 38-year-old Indiana-born wife Cordie L [Cordelia Snodgrass] Sidebottom have been married twenty-one years and have had seven children, six are living. These Kansas-born children are 19-year-old farm laborer Milo, 14-year-old Lida C, 12-year-old Felix O, 7-year-old Lorin K, 5-year-old Ira B, and 1-year-old Inez C. All the children except Ezra and Inez have attended school in the past year. Orson is a grain and stock farmer, who owns the acreage he is farming, free of mortgage. Orson's parents were born in Kentucky, Cordie's parents in Indiana, and the children's father was born in Illinois and their mother in Indiana. In the 1915 Kansas State Census for Waring, Ness, Kansas, 52-year-old Illinois-born farmer O L [sic Orson] and his 42-year-old wife Indiana-born Cordy [sic] [Snodgrass] Sidebottom have in their household their Kansas-born children 18-year-old school teacher LIda, 16-year-old Felix, 12-year-old Lorin, 7-year-old Ira, 6-year-old Inez and 3-year-old Ralph. Felix, Loren, Ira, Inez, and Ralph [sic] have attended school in the past year. Oscar is farming land he owns, free of mortgage. Orson came to Kansas from Iowa and Cordie from Indiana. Living one farm away are Cordie's parents, 74-year-old Indiana-born H C [Hugh] and 68-year-old Indiana-born L A [Lida Ann Gray] Snodgrass. Hugh owns the land he is farming, free of mortgage. Both Hugh and Lida came to Kansas from Indiana. On 12 Sep 1918, when 20-year-old Felix Orson Sidebottom registers for the WWI draft, he state that his permanent residence is in Brownell, Ness, Kansas where he works as a farmer for his father, Milo Sidebottom. He was borm 10 Mar 1898 and is a native born citizen. His nearest relative is his mother Cordie L Sidebottom, also of Brownell, Ness, Kansas. His description is medium height and build with gray eyes and black hair. He has no physical disabilities which would preclude him from serving in the military.
