In the 1910 US Federal Census for Castor, Stoddard, Missouri, 37-year-old Indiana-born farmer James M and his 32-year-old Illinois-born wife Laura B [Blazer] Hawkersmith [sic] have been married 15 years and have had four Illinois-born children, all are living. These children are 13-year-old Della, 11-year-old Anna B, 8-year-old Ida M and 4-year-old Lee H. Della, Anna and Ida have attended school in the past year. Everyone except the two youngest children is recorded as being able to read, write and speak English. James is farming rented land. James' parents were born in Indiana, Laura's parents were born in Illinois, and the children's father was born in Indiana and their mother in Illinois. From Lee's birthplace in Illinois in about 1906, it may be deduced that the family moved to Missouri after 1906. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Liberty, Stodard, Missouri, 48-year-old Indiana-born farmer J. M. [James M] and his 42-year-old Illinois-born wife Laura [Blazer]Hockersmith have their youngest Illinois-born child, 14-year-old Lee in their household. Lee has attended school in the past year. Everyone can read write and speak English. James owns the land he is farming. James' parents were born in Indiana, Laura's parents were born in Illinois, and Lee's father was born in Indiana and his mother in Illinois.
