Bertha's headstone in Hurricane Cemetery, Needham, Johnson, Indiana, records that she was 16 years and 2 months old when she died. The Franklin Democrat, Friday, June 24, 1898, Volume XXXVIII Number 50, page 1 column 4 LOCAL and PERSONAL. ============================= Bertha Calvin, age sixteen years, died Saturday evening about six o'clock at the home of Thos. Brown and wife near Whiteland, after a brief ill- ness of consumption. Her father, Frank Calvin, is now a resident of California. The Franklin Democrat, Friday, June 24, 1898, Volume XXXVIII Number 50, page 3 column 3 FROM OVER THE COUNTY WHITELAND. The funeral of Bertha Calvin was held at the Presbyterian church Monday a m, Revs Jones and Pearson conducting the services. The re- mains were placed in the vault at Franklin, to await the arrival of her father, and will be int- erred in the Hurricane cemetery Sunday after noon. Bertha was a kind, amiable girl, and was loved by her many friends. She made a public profession of her faith only a week before her death. She was 16 years of age.
