Shared note
In the 1870 US Federal Census for Lancaster, Jefferson, Indiana 49-year-old farmer Jesse Cline owns $2,000 worth of land and $878 worth of personal property. He and his 42-year-old wife Sarah have in their household their children, 18-year-old Emma [Emareh on the 1860 census] [Cline] Muster, 13-year-old James B Cline and 10-year-old Jesse Cline. Emma's husband 23-year-old farm laborer James Cline [sic Muster] is also in the household. Emma and James were married in December 1869. The Clines are living next door to Harvey Strawther and Elizabeth [Muster] McCaslin and their family. James Muster is Elizabeth Muster McCaslin's youngest brother. James B will marry their daughter Margaret in 1878. The census taker wrote the last name of all the people in this family as Cline, causing confusion as to whom Emma [Emeretta] married in December. The record of James Muster and Emeretta Cline's marriage on familysearch.org has straightened out this confusion.
