In the 1900 US Federal Census for White River, Johnson, Indiana, 42-year-old Indiana-born farmer laborer John P and his 36-year-old Illinois-born wife Lidda [sic] M [Stiff] Barger have been married 20 years and have had two children, both are living. These Indiana-born children are 12-year-old Adda M and 9-year-old Anna B [sic Annabelle]. The family is living in a home that John owns, but with a mortgage. John, Lydia and Adda can read, write and speak English. Adda has attended school 6 months of the past year. John's father was born in Indiana and his mother in Virginia. Lydia's father was born in Ohio and her mother in Illinois. In the 1920 US Federal Census for Union, Johnson, Indiana, 28-year-old Indiana-born farmer Myrl and his 28-year-old Indiana-born wife, Annabelle [Barger] Park have in their household their 7-year-old Indiana-born son Kenneth who has attended school in the past year. Myrl owns the land he is farming, free of mortgage. Myrl and Annabelle can read, write and speak English. Myrl and Kenneth's parents were born in Indiana, Annabelle's father was born in Indiana and her mother in Illinois.
